Trigger warning: please be aware that this article touches on the subject of suicide.
Amy was severely unwell a couple of years ago and has struggled with mental illness throughout her life. She suffered a severe crisis back in 2018, but thankfully Rethink Mental Illness’ Survivors of Suicide (SOS) service was there to help and Amy says it “held me up at a time when I couldn’t manage myself … the support I received from Rethink Mental Illness was lifesaving and I really don’t think I would still be here without them”.
Three years later, Amy decided to run the length of the UK to raise money for the charity “as a way of giving back in the hope that [Rethink Mental Illness] can continue to give help to those who need it”.
You can find out more information about the work of the SOS service here and Rethink Mental Illness’ wider work do by visiting rethink.org.
